About LUMVOA™ Infusion Therapy

LUMVOA™ (veligrotug-vvze) is a biologic medication known as an insulin-like growth factor-1 receptor (IGF-1R) inhibitor, given as an intravenous (IV) infusion. It is FDA-approved to treat thyroid eye disease (TED) in adults, no matter how active your disease is or how long you have had it.

A full course of LUMVOA™ is one IV infusion every three weeks for a total of five infusions. At Violet Health, our clinical team handles the scheduling, insurance coordination, and monitoring for each visit, so you can focus on your treatment and recovery.

Conditions treated by this therapy

LUMVOA™ is FDA-approved for the treatment of thyroid eye disease (TED) in adults, including both active (early) and chronic (long-standing) disease. Your care team may consider this therapy if you:

Are an adult diagnosed with thyroid eye disease
Have active or chronic TED, regardless of how long you have had symptoms
Experience symptoms such as eye bulging (proptosis), double vision (diplopia), or eye swelling, redness, and pain
Are looking for a treatment option that targets the underlying cause of TED rather than only easing symptoms

Your ophthalmologist or endocrinologist will confirm whether LUMVOA™ is right for you before treatment begins.

What to Expect During LUMVOA™ Infusion Therapy

When you arrive at our Violet Health location, you'll settle into a private, welcoming space designed with your comfort and peace of mind in mind. Before and during your intravenous infusion, our experienced team will:

Review your current health status and any symptoms you've noticed
Check your vital signs and blood sugar before treatment begins
Place your IV using gentle, practiced technique
Administer your LUMVOA™ infusion with our nursing team at your side
Monitor you closely for any infusion-related reactions
Protect your privacy and comfort throughout the visit

LUMVOA™ is given as one infusion every three weeks, for a total of five infusions. Many patients find the visits manageable and appreciate knowing their course of treatment involves only a small number of appointments from start to finish.

LUMVOA™ Side Effects

As with any medication, LUMVOA™ may cause side effects. Being informed helps you know what to watch for and when to contact your healthcare team. Common Side Effects:

Muscle cramps
Headache
Hearing problems
High blood sugar (hyperglycemia)
Tiredness
Diarrhea
Ear discomfort
Infusion-related reactions
Nausea
Cold-like symptoms, such as sore throat or stuffy nose
Elevated creatine phosphokinase
Dry skin
High blood pressure

Although rare, serious side effects can occur. Please alert our clinical staff or seek medical attention immediately if you experience any of the following symptoms:

Severe hearing problems, including hearing loss that may be permanent — report ringing in the ears, a feeling of fullness, or any loss of hearing right away
Worsening of inflammatory bowel disease, including urgent diarrhea, rectal bleeding, or abdominal cramping
Infusion reactions, which occurred in about 9% of patients
Increased blood sugar, reported in about 12% of patients — your blood sugar is checked before and during treatment, and diabetes management plans may need to be adjusted

Pregnancy warning: Do not use LUMVOA™ if you are pregnant, as it may harm an unborn baby. Use effective birth control before treatment, during treatment, and for six months after your last dose.
