RECLAST® Infusion Therapy

About RECLAST® Infusion Therapy
RECLAST® is used to treat osteoporosis. It's only available as an intravenous (IV) infusion that's given at a clinic or your provider's office. The medication is an option for postmenopausal women with osteoporosis who can't take bisphosphonates by mouth or for those at very high fracture risk.

RECLAST Price
The cost of prescription medications can vary depending on your insurance coverage. If you're concerned about the price of your medication:
- Contact your insurance provider to understand your coverage
- Ask your doctor or pharmacist about lower-cost alternatives
- Check with the drug manufacturer about financial assistance programs
- Explore patient assistance options if you're uninsured or underinsured
Remember, many resources exist to help patients access necessary medications. Don't hesitate to ask for help if you're struggling with medication costs. No patient should go without necessary treatment due to financial limitations. If you have questions about financial assistance opportunities, contact a member of our Violet Health team.
What to Expect During RECLAST® Infusion Therapy
RECLAST® is given by infusion into your vein (intravenously). Your infusion should last at least 15 minutes. Before you receive RECLAST®, drink at least 2 glasses of fluid (such as water) within a few hours, you may eat before your treatment with RECLAST®.
RECLAST® Side Effects
- The most common Reclast (zoledronic acid) side effect is flu-like symptoms in the days right after the infusion. This can include fatigue, fever, and body aches, which usually go away within a few days.
- Other Reclast side effects include nausea, headaches, and muscle and joint pain. You can usually manage these side effects at home, and they typically aren’t long-lasting.
